KatrinAAA Can Kiss My AAAss

So it just so happens that a little storm by the name of Katrina pretty much destroyed my town of New Orleans. Of course, my house got completely screwed. No, flooding didn't get us - hurricane force wind and driven rain did. We had extensive damage, most seriously our roof was destroyed. That led to tons of inside damage.

So you'd think that since there was no flooding, our insurance would cover the damages, right? WRONG! First let me just sum up the fantastic list of fun things we need to replace: new ceilings in the living room, dining room and den; new floors in the same rooms; new walls in parts of those rooms; new roof; new front porch; new grill; some new windows; new cabinet; new stove; new leather chair; repaired dining tables and chairs; repaired gas line. That doesn't even count the fact that we lost a tree in the front yard and a huge tree in the backyard that completely uprooted most of the back.

So how much did AAA, our esteemed agency give us? We got a check for $4600 and change. We've already paid more than that out of pocket for the roof alone! Thanks AAA. We haven't been able to live at home for over 2 months and now we can't even afford to pay to fix it so we can move home. That's AAAwesome!

Hello World

Well, it's finally happened. I have begun my blog experiment. Spurred on by a couple of friends who jumped onboard, as well as my brother, I decided the web needed more Ted!!! I'm not sure what form my blog will evolve into, but I do know one thing. Before I publish a post, I will always make sure to ask myself, "What would Matt Foley say?"

In the coming days, I plan on commenting about all the topics near and dear to my heart: updates on my family, Ali and Ava, rantings on Irish football, misery in rebuilding a home and much more! I also will be happy to answer any questions my loyal readers may have. Wondering why the sky is blue? Trouble getting the VCR to stop flashing 12:00? Need a quick Shakespearian quote? Wondering about the proper grip for a splitter? Can't figure out what that pesky rash is? Come one, come all! In the spirit of Matt, I'll get you back on track!
